Regions First Family Room Opened at New Pine Rest

Ronald McDonald House and Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services have unveiled West Michigan’s first Family Room.

The 1,000-square-foot space inside the newly built Pediatric Center of Behavioral Health allows families to rest and recharge at no cost without returning to the Ronald McDonald House in Grand Rapids.

“Pine Rest provides an incredible service to our community and supports some of the most vulnerable children and families,” said Salina Bishop, president & CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities West Michigan. “We are so grateful to bring our first Ronald McDonald House Family Room to their new Pediatric Center of Behavioral Health. Both of our organizations share the belief that caring for a child means caring for their family.”

The space includes a kitchen with complimentary snacks and beverages, comfortable lounge seating and a quiet room for rest or reflection.

Families can access workstations with reservable technology, including iPads, noise-canceling headphones and chargers. The room also features a children’s play area with books, puzzles and games, and a private restroom with complimentary toiletries.

“This partnership allows us to do just that, supporting families so every child has the best chance for a positive outcome,” Bishop said.
